Violoncello inspired by Pietro Giacomo Rogeri 1717
The 1717 instrument by Pietro Giacomo Rogeri inspired the design of this cello. I have made the body a little longer than the original to achieve a more standard size. The f-holes are shaped after the original. My own arching and graduation give my instruments their characteristic sound. The scroll is my own design.
I made this cello in 2022. For the top I chose a well seasoned 30 year old European spruce from a retired violin maker. The tone of the wood was open and clear. The back, ribs and scroll are made from newer Carpathian maple.
