Violoncello: own model made in 2022
The original inspiration for this model came from Goffriller. This can be seen in the width of the lower and upper bouts. The f-holes are designed to match the width of the C and lower bouts. The arching and graduation give my instruments their characteristic sound. The scroll is my own design from 2019.
I made this cello in 2022. I chose a well seasoned European spruce top from a retired violin maker. It has a beautiful bearclaw, which gives a powerful voice when properly worked. The tap tone of the wood was open and clear. The bearclaw also has a nice visual effect, which is enhanced by the light varnish. The back, ribs and scroll are made from newer Carpathian maple.
